What is Mongol Rally

What is Mongol Rally

Simply put, it's the greatest motoring adventure on the planet. The Mongol Rally thunders 10,000 miles across the mountains, desert and steppe of Europe and Asia each summer. There’s no backup, no support and no set route; just you, your fellow adventurists and a tiny car you bought from a scrapyard for £11.50. It's an adventure of a life time, atleast it will be for us. Each year more than 300 teams set off east from UK and head towards Mongolia. The rules are simple, small car, no support or backup and raise some money for charity. Sounds bloody great.

Our Route

The route obviously depends on how much time you have. You can do it in 4 weeks or 40, totally upto you. You choose the route and the time you want to spend on the road. We are taking what is the known as the central route in the rally. It requires crossing the Caspian sea from Baku, Azerbaijan into Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan and that we have heard is adventure in itself.

Our Route

Each team participating in the rally is required to raise GBP 1000 for charity out of which GBP 500 goes to Cool Earth. The rest goes to a charity/s chosen by the team. Cool Earth does an amazing job of saving our environmental life and so we thought why not help a charity that is directly involved in saving human lives. So after much deliberation within the team, we have decided to raise some money for Starship Foundation. They do an amazing job for the kids and we couldn't think of any other charity more deserving. Please be generous and help the environment and our future, our kids.

  • Last minute add on this amazing journey, meet Virender Chopra. He is currently amalgamating with mates in European streets over drinks and local bread joyfully.

  • He is a showman and life of the party. Radio Jockey by profession, his humor can bring back the dead. He is the Santa with a tan at our annual Xmas functions. Age cannot catch up to him and he will forever be young. At the moment, the big man is steadfast in his resolve for fitness as Mongolia beckons. Good fun to be around and am sure will make lots of friends during the rally.

  • Don’t be mistaken by his profession, this Accountant desires great thrills and adventures. Considers himself an average bloke and being an accountant thinks he has had enough of his boring routine. He had been looking for a challenge and a way to get out of his comfort zone and the rat race, What better than this rally? He can conjure up a solution when all seems lost

The only Aussie in the team surrounded by 3 Kiwis, he will get his fair share of banter.

    Arvind Singh (Sunny)
  • A professional chef with a keen interest in music and loves to have a good time. He will make your taste buds do a tango with his fusion of spices. He brings the style quotient to this team. A passionate cricketer who is never shy of an opinion and wears his heart on his sleeve. His music rules the roost at parties and will do during the rally.

Current goal – Trim down for the Romanian beach party.

  • He is the glue that holds firm this team. He is the catalyst, the ring leader. This jack knows all trades. He can build a fence and hit the baritone all at the same time. He can fix all that needs fixing. No better man to drive you across the world in a crappy car.

His aim is to ensure that this team finishes the rally.
